What is a School Based Traineeship?
A School Based Traineeship is an opportunity for students studying year 11 and 12 to undertake further accredited training qualifications as paid employees, whilst at school.

The School Based Traineeship Pathway

It is an important decision and commitment to become a School Based Trainee for 18 months and the students will have people available for support during this time. Linda Biumaiwai has been appointed as the Indigenous School Based Trainee Co-ordinator and will be assisting students throughout their traineeship.
When students decide to become a School Based Trainee with Sea World Resort then this is what will happen:
- They will need the support of the parent or guardian and the school.
- They will need to apply and undergo a selection process.
- Once selected, a training contract will be developed to highlight a schedule for work, school and training. All relevant parties must endorse this.
- A visitation schedule will be developed between the Sea World Resort Indigenous School Based Trainee Co-ordinator, the student, the school, the family and the Indigenous Education Officers.
- All assessment materials will be provided to them.
- Block release stays will be scheduled for approximately 1-2 weeks durations.
- Continual assessment will be conducted on Certificate III material.
Graduation ceremony upon completion of traineeship.
